- Lot Description
A P1896 Cavalry Officer's sword 38.5" oa length with honeysuckle scroll hilt, black fishskin grip and silver wire. Straight Wilkinson blade having Royal Cypher, numbered 37479 dating to 1895-96. This pattern was prescribed for both the light and heavy cavalry regiments excluding the Household Cavalry and remained in use until 1912. Sword complete with original leather field service scabbard.
Good condition. Blade has some darkening due to age. Hilt shows some finish loss and pitting. Scabbard is in goo0d condition with minimal loss of leather. Tip shows some finish loss with rust.Condition
