- Lot Description
Caucasian Shashka
28.75" curved, single edged-blade with two narrow fullers along the spine. 6.5" hilt with pinned bone grip and delicately engraved German silver pommel cap. Contained in leather covered wood scabbard with German silver mounts. Throat and drag are lightly etched with a foliate motifs on the obverse and all four mounts are engraved with, foliate patterns on the reverse. The lower middle mount includes a suspension ring and the upper middle one includes a mount for a strap.
Very good. Blade lightly cleaned with indication of sharpening along the edge. Metal with a medium pewter patina and scattered surface discoloration. Grip fine with minimal wear. Scabbard very good with some scuffling and wear, but remaining solid throughout.Condition
