- Lot Description
.44 caliber, 1.5" twist-off barrels, nsn. Blued finish, smooth walnut bag shaped grips. Box lock flintlock pistols marked Salmon & Co on the reverse of the frames and with simple foliate engraving on the obverse. Post-1813 Birmingham proof marks on the bottom of the frames and barrels. Contained in a typical English style mahogany case, lined in green baize with accessories, including a brass plunger flask, a brass oiler, an iron scissor mold, a barrel wrench, and a pair of ebony handled turnscrews, as well as some loose lead balls and a key to the case.
Good as refinished, retaining much of the later applied blue. Most markings remain clear and legible. Mechanically functional, good bores that are dirty and lightly pitted. Casing is very good, possibly of newer vintage than the pistols, but they fit well and the case shows good age. Lock of case is functional. All accessories are good to very good, most likely added at some point to complete the set. A nice displaying and reasonably priced set.Condition
