An Indianapolis native, Zimmerman studied art at the Herron Art Institute and studied under Otto Stark. He also studied in Chicago and at the Cincinnati Art Academy, where he became the pupil of Reginald Grooms, John Weis, and Herman Wessel. He did some mural and illustration work in Cincinnati before traveling for a few months across Europe. When he returned to Cincinnati, he tuaght at the Art Academy and continued painting murals, alongside portraits and landscapes. He was a long-time member and president of the Cincinnati Art Club. His murals are exposed in various city in the country, including Cincinnati.
This small landscape skillfully demonstrates Zimmerman's original manner, blending aspects of impressionism (fast brush strokes), modernism (rather stylized forms), and regionalism (attention to details of the locale).

At the request of the buyer, Cowan's will authorize the shipment of purchased items. Shipments usually occur within two weeks after payment has been received. Shipment is generally made via UPS Ground service. Unless buyer gives special instructions, the shipping method shall be at the sole discretion of Cowan's Auctions, Inc..
