- Lot Description
Silver gelatin print on 6 x 9 in. mount, blindstamp in the lower margin with Carl Moon's Pasadena, CA, address. Like Carl Moon (also known as Karl) Vicenti is often referred to with an alternate spelling of his first name: Vincenti.
Carl Moon (1879-1948) became interested in photography and American Indians at an early age. After apprenticing for six years, he opened his own photographic studio in Albuquerque. He was in charge of Fred Harvey’s Headquarters at the Grand Canyon, AZ, and also worked as the official photographer for the Santa Fe Railroad. His highly artistic and sensitive images were exhibited in major museums around the US, and at the invitation of President Theodore Roosevelt, at the White House.
