.577 caliber, 39" barrel secured by three barrel bands, no S/N. Blued and color casehardened finish with brass furniture and smooth walnut stock. Lock marked 1862/TOWER forward of hammer and with British crown at the tail of the plate. Birmingham commercial proof marks present at breech, along with a pair of "25" gauge marks. Weak BSAT (Birmingham Small Arms Trade) roundel is present in obverse stock and weak contractor mark BENTLEY & PLAYFAIR is present along the toe line. Counterpane is stamped OLD 13 and the rack number 19 is found on the nocks form, the tang and the wrist of the stock. 900-yard musket rear sight, combination front sight/bayonet lug, retains original T&CG marked ramrod and both sling swivels. Is accompanied by a Civil War era US M1857 musket sling and a British military inspected P1853 socket bayonet maker marked S. Hill & Son , with British military rack numbers on the socket. Consignor notes that the "Old 13th" may be a reference to the 102nd PA Infantry that was originally organized as the 13th PVI and was later reorganized as the 102nd PA. This regiment fought in every major Eastern Theater battle from Antietam to Appomattox.
