Approximately .61 caliber, smoothbored, 32" barrel, lock marked with D/[Anchor]/C mark of OP Drissen, Liege. Known to collectors as the Brazilian Light Minie rifle, these Belgian made percussion rifles were a hybrid between the P-1856 Enfield and the French Light Minie Rifle. They were purchased in some quantity by the US government during the Civil War, with most seeing service with "Western" Federal troops from Ohio, Wisconsin, Illinois, etc. This one has the brass eagle on shield wrist escutcheon that is believed to indicate US purchase. Rifle is surcharged OHIO on the wrist as well. Complete with correct original S&K made and Drissen marked brass handled saber bayonet. Rifle missing rear sight, incorrect ramrod.
