CRUYDT-BOECK VAN REMBERTUS DODONAEUS volgens sijne laetste verbeteringe: : met biivoegsels achter elck capittel, vvt verscheyden Cruydtbeschrijvers: item in 't laetste een beschrijvinge vande Indiaensche gewassen, meest getrocken wt de schriften van Carolvs Clvsivs. Leiden: Plantin Press, 1608. 15 by 10 inches and over 4 inches thick in contemporary vellum; [8], 1580, [79] pp. Corrected Leiden Plantin Press ed. of the great botanical encyclopaedia by Rembert Dodonaeus (1517-1585). Illustrated with an engraved title by W. Swan and ca. 1483 woodcut illustrations of plants. Text printed in 2 columns. Gothic type. Pritzel 2345. Nissen 518. STCN.

Condition

Covers wrinkled, chipped and with tears, soiling, worse to the lower cover. The final leaf of the text/woodcuts (1580) has a small tear below the illustration with the loss of a few words of text. Following that leaf, the index has severe damage and tears and is very defective including the loss of large portions of the index proper.
