- Lot Description
Silver gelatin photograph on thick cardstock mount, 6.5 x 8.5 in., of the famed Bodie baseball team, representing the mining camp of the same name situated in the Bodie Hills east of the Sierra Nevada mountains in California. Uncredited, ca early 20th century. The Bodie "Mutts," who played their games at the baseball field located on Booker Flat, were one of many teams established by mining camps in the late 1880s. Teams from Bishop, CA, as well as Hawthorne, Carson City, and Virginia City, NV were also included in the league. Note that some of the players in the portrait have paper money pinned to their knees, and most have a coin or token balanced on their caps.
Some light scratches, few very minor surface abrasions in print. Light spotting.Condition
