Chicago Daily Tribune. Chicago: September 30, 1920. Vol. LXXIX, No. 235. 24pp, 18 x 23 in. Features an article concerning a gambling scandal in which Black Sox players were bribed to "throw" the World Series baseball game in Cincinnati. The headline reads "Hunt $75,000 in Ball Plot."
The scandal also became known as "The Big Fix" and resulted in ruining the reputation of the involved players, one of whom was "Shoeless Joe" Jackson. Even though they were not convicted of their crimes, the new commissioner of baseball banned every single player from baseball forever.
Toning of the paper as well as some wear to the left margin.
