American, mid-19th century. A teapot with an alternate rib pattern, having a pierced spout decorated with molded foliate motifs and a mismatched lid. Mark E to underside; ht. 6 in.
A similar teapot, listed as the only known example, is pictured in Barret's Bennington Pottery and Porcelain, pg. 101, plate 140.
