lot of 2, includes a stone club with beaded handle; club is inscribed to Eleanor Roosevelt and is accompanied by a letter dated 1934 which discusses the origins of the "tomahawk": Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt - This tomahawk, made by Mrs. Bessie Donaldson, an art designer, is presented to you by the newly organized "Quota Club" of Spokane, Washington, of which she is a member. The stone was found at the foot of Black Butte, on the Indian Reservation of Southern Oregon. / The following information was furnished to us by an old medicine man, now 103 yrs of age, upon whose property this stone lay. / Black Butte is the location of an Indian War between two rival tribes: the unfortunate tribe being unwilling to be captured, hurled themselves over the cliff to the ragged rocks below. Some of the stones upon which they met their death are not being converted into many beautiful souvenirs. / This same tomahawk head was among those of which we have just spoken. / Your name is embossed upon the tomahawk head with sand from the Coulee Damsite., length of club 16.5 in.; PLUS a pair of Puerto Rican Maracas, length 10 in.
