- Lot Description
German, 1920s. A group of sixteen plates made by Bauscher for Hotel Cleveland, including six dinner plates and ten bread plates, the dinner plates with gilt logo in center and bread plates with gilt logo on edge, all with cobalt and gilt borders; marked for maker and for retailer Arthur Schiller and Son / Chicago / 1926; dinner plate dia. 10 in.
Now known as the Sheraton Hotel on Cleveland's Public Square, Hotel Cleveland was built in 1918. It was purchased by the Van Sweringen brothers and incorporated into their project to revitalize Public Square including the construction of the Cleveland Union Terminal complex.
Light wear consistent with age and use.Condition
