Andalusian Landscape by Cleveland Artist Rolf Stoll
Rolf Stoll (Cleveland, 1892-1978). Oil on canvas, unframed. A muted landscape of the rolling countryside of Andalusia, Spain. Signed l.r.; 42 x 30.25 in.
This painting was awarded first prize at the Cleveland Museum of Art's Nineteenth Annual May Show in 1937 in the landscape category. Published in the museum's Bulletin for May of that year, this painting was touted for its "playful affect on a balance of soft colors and a use of light reminiscent of the Impressionist school."Condition
Additional strip of wood added to top of stretcher and painted.
