Made from polished green, banded slate; expertly sculpted with well-defined sharp lines and edges.
The first known collector was Professor W.O. Emery whose birdstone collection was documented as far back as 1899, in Warren K. Moorehead’s Birdstone Ceremonial. It is probable that Emery’s interest in birdstones began during his time spent teaching chemistry at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
