- Lot Description
27" double-edged blade. Brass guard and grip with brass scabbard. Right side of blade adorned with American eagle and panoply of arms with caduceus and helmet of Hermes. Left side marked with "U.S. Medical Staff" and panoply of arms with caduceus. Right ricasso marked "N.P. Ames/Cutler/Springfield". Right side of guard has "M.S." is script above thirteen stars. Floral motifs throughout with American eagle. Left side shield and oval left blank. No markings on scabbard.
Good. Blade has a dull pewter patina with some spots of darkening but no active rust or edge damage. Hilt has a dull luster with some loss of finish on high areas. Some scratches on guard and scabbard as well as some additional finish loss on scabbard. Tip of scabbard missing.Condition
