Parkman, Francis. THE OREGON TRAIL. SKETCHES OF PRAIRIE AND ROCKY-MOUNTAIN LIFE. ILLUSTRATED BY FREDERIC REMINGTON. Boston: Little, Brown and Company, 1892. 4th overall Edition; 1st Illustrated. 9 by 6 1/4 inches in gilt and color pictorial cloth binding. From the author's Preface: "The Wild West is tamed, and its savage charms have withered. If this book can help to keep their memory alive, it will have done it's part. It has found a powerful helper in the pencil of Mr. Remington, whose pictures are as full of truth as of spirit, for they are the work of one who knew the prairies and the mountains before irresistible commonplace had subdued them." Condition

With modest handling wear, corners rubbed; slight crease to rear pastedown; gilt and color cover bright; top edge gilt. Very Good.
