New York: Printed and Sold by Samuel Campbell, 1796. 2 Volumes, 7 1/2 by 4 3/4 inches in a modern full leather fine binding with gilt tooling and ruling and gilt printed red leather labels and decorations to the spines, 5 raised bands. HOWES W142. 296, 311 pp. 2nd Edition, the first having been published in Boston in 1795. The letters cover the period from 24 June 1775 through 31 December 1778.

Lacks the portrait frontis and the printed leaf following the title page with Washington's statement regarding the forgeries; but with the blank leaf following xiv.
