Lot Description

Poole, William F. THE TYLER DAVIDSON FOUNTAIN GIVEN BY MR. HENRY PROBASCO TO THE CITY OF CINCINNATI. Cincinnati: Robert Clarke and Company, 1872. 1st Deluxe Edition. 11 3/4 by 9 1/4 inches in contemporary 1/2 red morocco and cloth. A presentation copy with a manuscript note from Mr. Probasco tipped-in at the front. The 28 albumen photographs are mounted on 13 inserted plates. "One hundred copies only of this edition were printed by Mr. Probasco for presents, and it is said they cost twenty dollars each. The photographs are very fine. Altogether it is a work worthy of the noble object it portrays." - Thompson, Bibliography of the State of Ohio.

Condition

Edges worn and rubbed; scuffing to corners and at the head and tail of the spine. Private bookplate (name inked-out) on the front pastedown. Modest staining at the bottom inner hinge of the first five pages. Photographs in Very Good condition with strong tones.
