American, 19th century. A pair of portraits, oil on canvas, one in an oval frame, the other in a rectangular frame with oval opening, of John Whiteman, whose niece married into the Strader family, a prominent family in the steamship industry in Cincinnati, and his wife Hester; 26 x 21.5 in. (sight, each).
