This lot was purchased from the 1963 auction of the collection of Charles Newton, an employee of Henry Ford during the 1920 and 30s. Newton was instrumental in the development of the Ford Museum and Greenfield Village, working as a buyer of property and antiques for the institution. The collection was housed in 'The Queen's Residence' in Ypsilanti, Michigan, built in 1870 and modified by Newton to its current Classical Revival form.
