(11th Census of the United States). REPORT ON INDIANS TAXED AND NOT TAXED IN THE UNITED STATES (EXCEPT ALASKA) AT THE ELEVENTH CENSUS: 1890. Washington, D.C.: Government Printing Office, 1890. 11 3/4 by 9 1/4 inches and 2 1/2 inches thick in original black cloth binding. The most exhaustive accounting of life for Native Americans that had been undertaken up to that time. vii, [1], 683 pages, [235] leaves of plates (some folded) : illustrations, maps, portraits (some color); with 25 folding maps, 3 of them large folding and in color. "The Superintendent of Census may employ special agents or other means to make an enumeration of all Indians living within the jurisdiction of the United States, with such information as to their condition as may be obtainable, classifying them as to Indians taxed and Indians not taxed."
