- Lot Description
.36 caliber, 16" octagonal barrel, turned round at the muzzle for the last 1". Blued and casehardened finish, smooth walnut grips with detachable fancy walnut buttstock without patchbox and with crescent buttplate. Frame engraved with tight foliate scrolls, with the butt cap, hammer and triggerguard engraved en-suite. Unmarked. The pistol is mounted with an adjustable tang mounted peep sight that is missing the eye disc and a "tube and ball" front sight that is missing the ball. A wooden ramrod is included that is a contemporary replacement.
Good. Barrel retains no finish, with a gray patina and scattered pinprick pitting and surface oxidation. Engraving remains crisp on the frame and other parts. The buttcap retains faint traces of case hardening. The frame has a couple of small repaired cracks in the backstrap, concealed by the attached buttstock. Mechanically functional, good bore with crisp rifling and scattered light pitting. Grips good with a small repair to the upper corner of the left grip where it meets the frame. The detachable buttstock has a 1.5" long, trapezoidal shaped piece of wood set into the comb, apparently an old repair. The buttstock fits the pistol well and attaches securely. Both the stock and grips show scattered bumps, dings and minor mars.Condition
