- Lot Description
.22 caliber, 28.5" octagonal barrel, S/N 8460. Bead front sight with folding leaf rear sights in 50, 100, and 150 yard increments. Checkered forend and grip. Horn buttplate and forend cap. Top of barrel marked "AGNEW & SON . 79 . SOUTH ST. EXETER." Anti-glare filing present on top of barrel, as is evidence that the rear sight was moved and its 50 yard increment altered. Barrel tang marked "ATHELSTANE CORDEROY, TIVERTON, DEVON" in three lines. Bottom of trigger guard marked with serial number.
Leather-covered case is decorated with St. George's Cross motif with the top marked "A C" and front labeled "RETURN TO ATHELSTANE CORDEROY, TIVERTON, DEVON" in four lines. Case corners reinforced with brass. Inside of case includes Agnew and Son label, empty box of .22 caliber cartridges, cleaning cloths, and key.Fair condition. Much of the finish remains on the barrel with some light rust from storage. Receiver has a dull gunmetal gray and tan patina where color casehardening has been lost. Stock has marks and dents consistent with age and use, with some damage to the checkering. Horn mountings have some insect damage. Rifle functions normally, as does the break-action lever. Bore good.Condition
