Poster, 22 x 28 in. I Pledge Allegiance to the flag...Designed by Ron Borowski. New York: Starfish Productions Inc., 1970. This powerful image of an African American man with the "Stars and Stripes" painted across his face was initially used to create a newspaper advertisement for a CBS series on Black America. The text of the "Pledge of Allegiance" was added when Starfish Productions produced this poster in 1970 with the words "one nation, under God" intentionally omitted, suggesting the exclusion of blacks in American society.
