Late Archaic Period, 3500-2500 B.C.
5-3/8 in.Made from dark slate with a white contrasting streak; a deep, concave flute or channel runs parallel to the perforation.
The Late Archaic Concave Humped Bannerstone is a rare and interesting form. David Lutz, author of The Archaic Bannerstone (2000), illustrates only six examples in his book. Lutz observed that when viewing this bannerstone from the end, it has the appearance of a bird in flight.
