7.65mm, 3.5" barrel, S/N 285014. Blued finish, mother-of-pearl grips. Engraved with loose foliate scroll motifs, with gold foliate highlights and decorations on the frame, triggerguard, slide, backstrap and gripstrap. Standard FN markings and Belgian proof marks. Includes a single magazine. A very attractive and highly embellished FN 1910 pocket pistol.
The pistol is accompanied by a provenance letter from the step-grandfather of the consignor detailing that the gun had belonged to his father, who was owner of the rights to asphalt deposits in Panama c1935-1942. Prior to the outbreak of WWII, the consignor's father has visited Belgium to arrange a large sale of asphalt to the Belgian government, a deal that was cancelled as a result of the war. It is the consignor's belief that his step-greatgrandfather acquired the pistol during this trip, either as a gift of by direct purchase. Of somewhat more interest are the notes that the owner of this pistol had fought during the Mexican Revolution as a Captain under Pancho Villa. Photo copies of pictures of the gun's owner are included with the provenance letter. One picture shows the pistol's owner in Mexico with a rough group of "banditos" and the other shows him with a group standing behind Pancho Villa and Mexican revolutionary leader Emiliano Zapata, who are seated in the foreground.
