DESCRIPTION: Pair of portraits by Mejanel. One depicting a man, the other a woman, each in early 19th century dress. The man's portrait is signed at the lower left corner "mejanel.p. 1825". In matching copper colored gesso and wood frames. PROVENANCE: From the Estate of Ron Shepler, Harrisburg, PA. MEASUREMENTS: Each 12-1/4" x 9". Overall with frame 16" x 13". CONDITION: Craquelure throughout each portrait. Losses and rubbing to each. Loss to lower right corner and right side of hair on woman's portrait. Losses scattered throughout lower half of man's portrait. Chips and losses to frames.
