DESCRIPTION: After Sir Peter Paul Rubens (Flemish, 1577-1640). Monumental oil on canvas. After the painting "Charity" executed circa 1613, in the collection of Graf von Schonborn'sche, Pommersfelden. Card verso noting an October 1928 restoration by Adolf Frei & Sons, Decorative Artists, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 18th/19th century. In an elaborate carved, gessoed and gilded frame. MEASUREMENTS: 53-3/8" x 41-1/2". Overall with frame 75" x 58". CONDITION: Restored in 1928 as noted. Overall craquelure. Two small areas of paint loss, one upper right corner and one middle left edge. Frame with cracks, minor losses, repairs and repainted.
