Capt. Joel W. Barkalow (1853-1931), Forked River, NJ

An old shorebird with painted eyes and an inserted and splined bill. In the summer of 2006, this bird was exhibited at the Ward Museum in Salisbury, Maryland. Capt. Barkalow was a bayman who later in his life became a yachtsman offering sporting excursions.
