Rare Dowitcher Pair
Old Saybrook, CT, c. 1990

A full-bodied pair with raised wings and distinctive incised wing feathering. This plump dowitcher pair displays high necks and ornate wing primary feather carvings. A rigmate was featured on the front cover of a 1983 Bourne catalog. A related plover by this unnamed maker, collected by Dr. James McCleery, was marked by William J. Mackey Jr, as Old Saybrook, Connecticut.
Original paint with light gunning wear. One bird has minor chips and a few age/grain lines.
