Ogden M. Pleissner (1905-1983) Rivermen
signed "Pleissner" lower right
watercolor, 20 by 30 in.
In "The Art of Ogden M. Pleissner," Peter Bergh quotes the artist recalling, "There were a lot of people who had salmon rivers and fishing camps who liked my work and who would ask me to come up and paint something on their river...I think a lot of these people would ask me to come back because I knew one end of a salmon rod from the other and I wasn't a dummy at fly fishing."
Rivermen depicts four boldly painted guides that await their anglers for a session of Atlantic salmon fishing.
