This exact decoy is illustrated in at least three important decoy books, including Johnsgard's 1976 "The Bird Decoy." With its exceptional form, three-piece construction, and strong provenance, this bird features everything astute Hudson collectors look for.
This is one of the finest Hudson yellowlegs known, with a full body, drop tail, long and thin neck, pronounced head, eye groove, and extra long original bill. Branded "P" for the William Purnell, Jr. Collection on the underside. Original paint and bill with gunning wear.
