Rohe, Mies van der, for Knoll International, Barcelona Couch or Day Bed, manufactured early 2000s, tag on the underside KnollStudio E05M 1970, maker's mark stamped on one leg, hardwood frame with black tufted leather upholstery, frame measures 12 x 37.75 x 76.75 inches, the cushion is 3.5 inches thick, polished steel legs, supporting straps, head pillow with velcro strap. Provenance: Martin Prekop, former Dean of Carnegie Mellon College of Fine Arts. Prekop is an accomplished artist whose works can be found in the permanent collections of the Carnegie Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Seattle Art Museum, among others. As a professor, Martin was highly regarded for his technical skill and breadth of knowledge in photography and painting and his incisive critique mixed with wit and humor. Never afraid to tackle problems himself, Martin established the Zebra Lounge and built and painted all its original furniture.
Condition
In generally good condition with light signs of age and use, including nicks and stains to the side and underside of the wood frame, small area of scuffing to the leather near the bottom; overall sturdy and supple, presents well.
