Avery, March (American, b. 1932), Purple Trees, 1968, oil on canvas, signed and dated lower left. Also signed, titled, and dated on canvas verso. Canvas 48 x 40 inches, in a wooden strip frame with gold tone stripping. March is the daughter of the celebrated American artists Milton and Sally Michel Avery. A masterful colorist, she drew on the styles and motifs of her parents to create her own signature take on everday scenes.
In good condition, with noticeable circular craquelure at the upper left and lower left, as well as two areas on the lower tree trunks, and at lower right; lower right with 2 small areas of flaking; soft horizontal scrape near the center, approximately 11.5 inches long; compression mark at lower center approximately 3 inches long; small accretions in several areas.
