Ibram Lassaw gold plated bronze abstract Bosom Sculpture/pendant, 1980s. An Egyptian-born American artist, Lassaw was an early to mid-century pioneer of abstract sculpture. He was influenced by Picasso and Miro. The artist preferred to think of his pieces as wearable sculptures, referring to them as his Bosom Sculptures. The layered multi-directional openwork gold plated pendant is fashioned of welded bronze rod over galvanized wire, and topped with three biomorphic rings of hammered, shaped, and flattened bronze rod. The gold plated surface is in very good condition with minor wear. Finished with a pendant loop attached to the top back. The artist signature is inscribed "Lassaw" on an attached bar at the center back of the pendant. Measures 3 1/4" square. Approx. 69.8 grams.
