Vallance, Aymer, The Art of William Morris: A Record, with Reproductions from Designs and Fabrics Printed in the Coulours of the Originals, Examples of the Type and Ornaments Used at the Kelmscott Press..., number 146 of 220 copies, 1897, George Bell and Sons, London, hardcover, folio, original linen backed boards, with 40 illustrations, mostly in color, showing examples of Morris' tapestries, wallpapers and books designs, and with a two page spread showing a facsimile page from the Kelmscott Chaucer; from the collection of Laurence William Hodson (Wolverhampton Brewer and art collector) with his bookplate affixed to the front blank, an excellent contemporary survey of Morris, complete with a bibliography of the Kelmscott Press; TOGETHER WITH An Address Delivered by William Morris at the Distribution of Prizes to Students of the Birmingham Municipal School of Art on February 21, 1894, Longmans and Co., printed at the Chiswick Press, 1898, hardcover, original binding. Provenance: both deaccessioned from a regional institution; will include a letter of deaccession from the institution.Ex-library bookplates, with withdrawn stamps, affixed to front pastedown and 2 small stamps to rear endpaper, otherwise in poor condition, binding completely cracked, but the contents still clean and useful, a good candidate for a breaker as it's already broken!; Address in fair to good condition, binding worn, no library marks.
