Edges slightly trimmed; lacking original blanks. Provenance: Gardiner Greene Hubbard with his armorial bookplate to the front pastedown, Hubbard was founder and first president of the National Geographic Society and the Bell Telephone Company; his daughter Mabel married Alexander Graham Bell; then by descent through the Bell and Grosvenor families and the estate of a direct descendent of Gilbert Grosvenor, Western PA. Grosvenor was the editor of National Geographic Magazine from 1899-1954 and the President of the National Geographic Society from 1920-1954.
Condition
In generally good condition, binding scuffed and with wear to the corners and outer hinges but still secure and sound; title page is tipped-in and upper corners have been replaced; top right corner of second leaf has also been replaced; spotting to upper margins of first few leaves; mild foxing and finger soil throughout; a couple of pages with old manuscript marginalia, some of which has been trimmed; old bookseller note affixed to the title page.
