VERSO
Signed and titled
Describing this painting the artist wrote, “In this painting I am depicting the Sioux hunters splitting the herd into smaller segments. This is so they can surround them with other warriors. After they are divided into a more manageable segment the warriors surround the herd. When surrounded the herd runs in circles like a merry go round, then they will stop running at such a great speed. Now the buffalo are easier to get at. This gives the spear man a chance to select the buffalo and attack the chosen buffalo to kill. The spear man (in right panel) is a team with bow men (in left panel) as a hunting team.”
