San Gabriel Model Parade Saddle
Impressive, fully floral carved, black, sterling silver mounted, San Gabriel model, Hollywood, California parade saddle with matching Bohlin-made breast collar. Built on a Miles City 14” tree with 15” swells, 5” high heavy gauge sterling silver cantle with rope edge, 15 x 30 skirts, 9” fenders, three-quarter flat leather rigging, 18” taps with initials and brand, fully silvered front including intricately engraved gullet with rope edge and sterling horn with raised buffalo head. Saddle is adorned with Bohlin’s trademark silver spots plus a variety of rope-edge conchos, featuring raised Indian head, horse head, eagle, buffalo head, bucking horse, and mule head. Bohlin-made football size maker-mark stamped in silver. The saddle is tooled with eagles on the jockeys and bucking horse and rider on the fenders. Very similar in design to the pararde saddle pictured on page 117 of James Nottage’s Saddlemaker to the Stars book, identified as the 1950s model used by Clayton Moore in his iconic role as the Lone Ranger. Includes black and white corona.
