**Item has been withdrawn and will be offered in our October 18th auction** Northwest Coast Ksan totem pole commissioned for the California Academy of Sciences, San Francisco, Fountain of Whales Courtyard, executed in a 5.5 ton 36' red cedar log from the Queen Charlotte Islands, and created by master carvers from the Ksan Indian village, Northern British Columbia, Earl Muldoe, Walter Harris, and Vernon Stephens, depicting a human figure, raven, human face, bear, human face, killer whale, and surmounted with an American Bald Eagle, the pole was raised in the courtyard on June 22, 1976, with hundreds of volunteers using only ropes and pulleys and remained a focal point of the institution and stood between the Steinhart Aquarium and the Morrison Planitarium, 36'h x 4'w; Provenance: Deaccessioned from The California Academy of Sciences, San Francisco, CA. Note: The totem pole is located in the storage facilities of the California Academy of Sciences, Hayward, CA.
