Born in 1954 in Scicli (Ragusa). He attended Art School in Syracuse and then the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, where he graduated and obtained his first significant exhibition at the Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa. In 1981 he was amongst the founders of the Gruppo di Scicli. Polizzi has taken part in numerous exhibitions including Per exempla; the X and XIII Art Quadriennale in Rome (where the work Torretta degli Iblei was purchased by the Chamber of Deputies); Polizzi. One man show; Art Exposition Chicago; FIAC – Foire Internationale d’Art Contemporain in Paris and Basel; the XXXI Milan Biennale; the anthological exhibition in 1996, in Treviso, at the Casa dei Carraresi, curated by Marco Goldin. Amongst his exhibitions are: Sette artisti del Gruppo di Scicli per il Senato, Musei di San Salvatore in Lauro, Rome; Arte Italiana 1968 – 2007, Palazzo Reale in Milan; the 54th Venice Biennale, both curated by Sgarbi; the exhibitions at the Bernarducci Meisel Gallery, New York; the Francis Maere Fine Arts Gallery, Ghent, Belgium; Ibleide terra e luce, at the Palazzo Reale in Palermo, curated by Elisa Mandarà. Franco Polizzi lives and works in the Scicli countryside.
Once CITYarts has received payment in full, the buyer shall contact CITYarts to arrange shipping or pick-up. Shipping, handling, and insurance charges are the responsibility of the buyer. Buyers in the New York area can make arrangements to have works retrieved from the CITYarts offices or delivered when possible. Please contact gala@cityarts.org for all shipping arrangements.
