Porcelain, wheel-thrown and altered using a multi-step process which includes tearing the rim and piercing every hole by hand. High gloss glaze in blues with purple tones, high fired to cone 10 in a gas reduction kiln.
11 x 3.5 in.
Claire Cohen is a ceramic artist from Westchester, NY. She creates one-of-a-kind functional pieces in porcelain that are wheel thrown and altered or embellished by hand. Claire’s work is inspired by the elements of nature. Her finished pieces reflect a modern aesthetic and often evoke a sense of movement. She fires to cone 10 in a gas kiln, which means there are always variations in the glaze results — as in nature — making each creation unique. Her work is sold at various boutiques and on her online site: www.PurelyPottery.com. You can follow her on instagram @purelypottery.
Works can be retrieved the night of the Gala for winning bidders in attendance or from the CITYarts offices in NoHo for online bidders throughout NY. Shipping will otherwise be coordinated on a case by case basis for lots sold to bidders out of state, internationally, or for NY residents who require shipping, and the buyer agrees to cover these costs. Contact gala@cityarts.org for more information.
