Three wood-mounted antique tintype portrait photos. Introduced in 1853, tintype photos are made by putting a photo positive directly onto a thin piece of metal, (colloquially called "tin") which is coated in lacquer or enamel to hold emulsion. Particularly used for portraits, used most popularly in the 1860's/'70's and up through the 1930's. Photos measure approximately 2" to 2.5" x 3" and are in good condition.
