Original edition Children's book series "My Bookhouse" six-volume set, first published between 1920-1928. Published by The Bookhouse For Children, Chicago, edited by Olive Beaupre Miller. 448 pages per volume. Embossed dark green boards with inlaid illustrations on the front covers, gilt paper top and spine titles. Illustrated end papers, with black and white, two and three-color illustrations from a variety of illustrators. GREAT graphics.
Book condition ranges from fair to good vintage condition. The first volume has the most issues; loose binding, loose pages between pgs. 19-31, staining, small tears, tape repair, rubbing, yellowing, scratching, age wear to spine and corners, overall. The rest suffer from general wear and tear for age, yellowing, staining, scuffs and fading but are in considerably better condition as far as bindings. The inlaid front covers have light scratches/scuffs/fading but still show a lot of warm color. No apparent writing. Volume six includes an index of authors/titles, references, and childhood biographies of the authors, from P.T. Barnum to Joel Chandler Harris, Elizabeth Barrett Browning to Harriet Beecher Stow, Chaucer to Carroll.
"Letters From Uncle Henry" (Being His Adventures with Children, Dogs, Fairies, Ambitious Pigs and Others) by Henry Mason, published by Frederick A. Stokes Company, 1926. Very early, possibly first edition. No dustjacket. Vbrant dark green cloth-covered boards with colorful affixed illustration on front cover, illustrations throughout book. Edge of top left corner of illustration is missing. Edge wear, fraying, staining. There is some loosening of the front cover binding, a small pencil notation on frontis page along with a tear to the illustration overlay tissue gaurd, and a pen inscription on the title page. No other writing apparent. Fair/good vintage condition.
