John J. Stancin was an American artist. Raised in Europe, he began his painting career in Paris. Upon returning to the United States he studied at the Chicago Art Institute until serving in WWII. He was active in California, Hawaii, and France and is most known for his surrealist landscapes. This oil on canvas is exemplary of his work with a solitary figure approaching from a dystopic yet peaceful seascape. - Shipping Info
