Southern single door corner cupboard, yellow pine, single piece construction. Molded cornice over a single, double-paneled door, the lower section with shorter paneled door, all having H shaped hinges, the base with molded feet. The majority of backboards secured with rose head nails. 83 1/2" H x 28" W x 28"D. Likely Coastal Virginia or Carolina, early 19th century. Provenance: Collection of James and Marlin Phythyon (Sanders), Nashville, Tennessee. (Higher-resolution photos are available at www.caseantiques.com)
Older refinish. The cupboard was likely an 18th century architectural "built in" with cornice, feet molding, and return moldings added in the latter 19th century. Later H hinges, some staining to interior shelves.
