Archive of items related to the 1896-97 Tennessee Centennial Exposition in Nashville. Descended in the family of Edward Dickson Hicks, an organizer of the Tennessee event and son in law of Otto Giers, who photographed several events connected with that Exposition. 1st item: Framed certificate, certifying that "Edward Dickson Hicks is entitled to one share of the Capital Stock of the Tennessee Centennial Exposition Company, organized to celebrate the one hundredth anniversary of the admission of Tennessee as the sixteenth state of the Federal Union on June 1, 1796." Framed - 13" x 17". (Wear and small losses to frame, toning to certificate). 2nd item: Fine Art Catalog from the Exhibition, 266 pages, with several photographs of the paintings and sculpture exhibited at the event. (Back cover has become detached). 3rd item: Souvenir Programme booklet from the May 1, 1896 Theatre Vendome performance of the Company C Minstrels. 4th item: Portion of book, "Souvenir Nashville Tenn.", containing photographs of officers of the exhibition and prominent citizens and notable buildings of the city. Pages are not numbered, but last page is a photo of Walter M. Drake MD. (Front cover detached, back cover and several last pages missing). 5th item: Part of the Art Album of the Tennessee Centennial and International Exhibition. Issued by the Nashville American Newspaper in segments. 88 plates are present, along with covers for segments # 1, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. (Toning, some covers missing, some chew losses to several pages, affecting margins (not images). 6th Item: 22 candid photographs taken at the Tennessee Centennial and pasted onto a board. (8" tear to one board, full crease to the other, affecting 4 photos; all toned; Parthenon photo with some losses). 7th item: Photographic print of a conceptual drawing for the TN Exposition Building (Heavily toned, stained, with 1" loss). 8th Item: Postcard of a building at the exhibition. 9th item: Page from a magazine, likely Harper's Weekly, depicting Exposition building with caption: TENNESSEE - THE CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION OF THE SETTLEMENT OF THE CITY OF NASHVILLE. (Edge losses, 1/2" hole affecting margin, toning). 13th item: Envelope with return address letterhead for the Centennial Exposition, addressed to E.D. Hicks. 14th item: Set of 6 demitasse cups and 5 matching saucers with handpainted flowers and lettering "Nashville Centennial 1897". Stamped on bottom "LS & S Limoges, France." (Note: one cup has 1/8" chip and hairline, others in very good condition). Cups 2" H. 15th item: Ruby flashed glass miniature cream pitcher etched Hunter Geers (sic) Tenn. Centennial 1897. 2 3/4"H.
