- Lot Description
Large North Carolina stoneware pottery jar by N. H. Dixon (Nathaniel H. Dixon, 1827-1863), stamped "N H DIXON " below the rim. Profuse drips on one side with three distinct bands of incised lines at the upper shoulder, midsection, and lower section (similar pattern to Himer Fox (1826-1905)). Large lug handles and a rolled rim with a tapered edge. Descended from the family of the potter. 15 1/4" H. Mid 19th century.
Condition
Scattered chipping/losses to rim. Adherance of a fragment from another jar to outside wall (occurred during firing).
