- Lot Description
1st item: Lloyd Branson (Tennessee, 1861-1925) panoramic watercolor and gouache on paper landscape depicting white flowering trees lining a dirt path, with a split rail fence visible in the far left background. Initialed and dated lower right LB *93. House in a gilt wood frame. Sight: 8 1/2" H x 18 1/4" W. Framed: 16 3/4" H x 26 1/4" W. Biography: Branson is known as the first East Tennessee artist to receive formal art training in Europe (at the National Academy of Design in Paris) and studied at the National Academy of Design in New York. He returned to Tennessee and entered into a business partnership with Frank McCrary from 1885 to 1903, and became a leader in the East Tennessee arts community. (Courtesy James A. Condition
Painting with crease to lower right corner, some dampstaining along the mat top margin. Book in excellent condition.
